Outdoor Kitchen
Level of Detail: Low to Medium
Project Overview
This project was a conceptual design for a private residence. The existing condition was just a patio slab with no overhead shade, and a featureless backyard. The client had expressed a desire to install a fireplace, large BBQ with a refrigerator and wine cooler. He also wanted a prep table, using a custom tile that he had picked out, a basic outdoor dining area, and a sitting area with a fire and water feature. I decided to use a Santa Fe style look, with Mexican influence in the colors, which was offset by the custom tile design. The BBQ consist of a 36 inch stainless steel grill with 2 side burners, and custom light. To the left of the BBQ area, there is an outdoor sink, with storage cabinets and drawers underneath, and prep space that flows into the fireplace area. The fireplace is contained behind glass, with an air flow vent located above the glass. There is also seating available directly in front of the fireplace, and enough space to incorporate a small, bistro style table set. There is also room around the curved center island (which doubles as a prep area) for 8 barstools. (These items are not shown by client request). Toward the sliding doors (which are existing), I included a small dining set, made of Cherry Wood. In front of the dining area, there is a custom, angular water feature with a fire ring surrounding it. All water from the fountain flows into a small pond surrounding the fire feature. Around the feature, you will see 3 sitting areas, with a custom angled design that mirrors the fountain base. All lighting and ceiling fans are custom designed, and are designed to add mood lighting to create an intimate feeling. All lights are to be wired to dimmer switches, so lighting can be much brighter if needed - this particular lighting scheme was requested by the client.
