Hammond Garage

Project Overview
The goal of this project was to create a space to display 15 motorcycles and 2 cars. However, the space in which the remodeling was to take place was very small, with a low ceiling, narrow overall width. The solution was to create a “double decker” system, allowing the client to store one bike on top of the other. We created a brushed aluminum display housing, with steel cables holding the bikes in place. The back of each unit in coated in black bedliner (similar to what you would see in the back on a pick up truck), and the foundations were constructed of heavy duty steel to support the weight. The client also expressed his desire for an oil change pit in one of the vehicle bays. We decided to hollow out the large center display, and install a work ladder which led to an underground tunnel. That tunnel would allow access to the oil pit, allowing for safe entry under the car parked there, and an easily accessible escape route, should there be an emergency. The oil pit also uses a Tambour Door for added safety; the door slides over the pit when it is not in use. Overall, this project maximizes spatial usage in an otherwise tight area.
