This custom library is a massive, two story space with elements inspired by the 1930s Art Deco movement. Every detail right down to the table lamps draws its design roots from that era. The main entrance features massive 12-foot high doors bordered by floor-to-ceiling bookcases outfitted with geometric stained-glass sliding doors. The space features a full-size golden dome over the second level and airstream styled columns with antique bronze bases, and neon lighting at the top.

The goal of this project was to create a warm, intimate library space centered around a large dome, with a grand fireplace at one end, and a piano room on the other. I used a combination of used brick, wood, aged copper and an element of industrial design in some of the vertical members throughout the space. In between each column are large wooden bookshelves that rise from floor to ceiling whose verticality is further accentuated by the sunken reading area at the center of the library. The fireplace uses a combination of old world and modern design elements. The piano room and library are separated by a large archway, and is further separated by floor style.

One of my clients asked me to help authentic looking British parlor-style library. The end result includes concrete floors with inlaid wood, a grand travertine fireplace, and massive built in wood bookshelves and seating. All of the furniture was custom designed for this project, and all of the artwork featured in the renderings was specifically selected for this project. The library also features a unique mirrored ceiling with ornate iron work inlaid between the rough hewn support beams. Textured wall paper and molding, along with crown molding along the ceiling added the final authentic touches for this grand space.
