Building Ruins
Level of Detail: Medium to High
Project Overview
This project was rather unique in that it required me to use my software in a rather unusual way. The client wanted realistic images of building ruins which were to be converted into large vinyl sheets and used as a sort of wallpaper for an interior garden space. Therefore, I proposed this concept the ruins of an old building, such as a factory or warehouse, overgrown with vines and trees. However, the final result could not be a building with strong lines and heavy definition, but instead, had to be soft, and had to allow the user of the space to imagine what those ruins could have been. In other words, these images had to be more artsy then realistic. Therefore, I created a non-descript structure with large, rusted copper doors and blown out windows. I also added some caved in roof debris, and covered the structure in vines and other various types of plant life. I also decided to create a soft, moon lit ambient light, with the only strong light coming from gas light lamps, and a collection of candles on a center table, which was also designed to look worn and scratched from time and exposure to the elements. The client was please with the final result, and I hope to see the final product soon.
